Nigerian President Good Luck Jonathan on Wednesday watched the country’s senior team in training and then charged them to win in Liberia on Saturday.
Jonathan who paid an unscheduled visit to the Eagles during their evening training session on Wednesday gave the charge ahead of the teams 2013, Nations Cup qualifiers in Monrovia.
He expressed his confidence in the ability of the players when he appeared at the training ground in the company of the Vice-President, Arc. Namadi Sambo and Minister of Sports, FCT and finance including the Chairman of the Governors forum Rotimi Amamechi (Rivers State Governor).
The President also declared his intension to watch the 2013, AFCON finals in South/Africa, telling the players that it can only be possible if the eagles put Liberia aside.
Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi thanked the President for visiting the team, saying his personal interest will further galvanize the team to win in Monrovia on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the President during the week had announced the construction of a committee to reposition sports in the poor state facility at the Abuja National Stadium will soon be in the past.
The Committee is headed by the Minister of Finance Okonjo Iweala.
