The Majority Leader of the Eight Imo House of Assembly, and member representing Owerri Municipal Council, Rt Hon Lugard Osuji has declared that he wants to return to the House of Assembly in 2019 under the platform of Action Alliance, AA, after dumping All Progressives Congress, APC.
Speaking in Owerri, when the members of Imo Newspaper Publishers Association, INPA, led by its Chairman, Hon Henry Ekpe paid him a visit, the Lawmaker disclosed that he believes that he would be of more value to his constituency now if he goes back to the House of Assembly, as he has acquired experience that would make him serve Owerri Municipal better in the Legislature.
Hon Osuji hinted that the Legislature is like an old wine, which gets better with age, pointing out that if he returns to the House again he will be a ranking member, which will place him in advantage position than new comers, and therefore appeals to people of his constituency not to allow the already acquired parliamentarian exposure be wasted.
Osuji said Owerri constituency is a tough one to be a representative in the Legislature, because it is the State capital, but also good because a majority of the constituence are educated and well-informed and therefore easy to understand situations.
He made it clear that he is not in politics to make money, but to serve the people, stressing that it would have benefited him more to return back to his private business, but he cannot quit now, as he believes God has a purpose for directing him into politics, which he said has afforded him the opportunity to touch many lives.
Lugard Osuji who hinted that the 2019 election may dwell more on individuals pedigree and capacity than political party disclosed that he is sure of winning a second term under Action Alliance AA because his people believe in him, saying that AA though a few weeks old in Imo, has already gone down the grass roots because of the love Imo people have for Chief Uche Nwosu, the Governorship candidate of the party.
The Majority Leader appealed to Imo people to vote massively for AA in the 2019 election, as the party will continue the good work of the out-going administration in the State.
