The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Acho Ihim may be facing a fresh impeachment plot from the 8th Assembly, few months to complete their present tenure.
Reason for this may not be unconnected to the outcome of the 2019 general elections.
Ihim is the running mate to the Action Alliance governorship candidate, Chief Uche Nwosu.
Trumpeta Newspaper gathered that majority of the members of Imo Assembly who contested for Second tenure but lost may be resting their anger on the Speaker if they resume plenary. Their anger centers on the failure of Ihim to protect their interest in the AA.
Apart from Members of Isu and Ideato North constituencies, others who were wooed into joining Nwosu’s AA party for election campaign and votes might rest their anger on the Speaker for “leading” them to failure. They are also said to be aggrieved because of the unfulfilled promises of the governor against them in the course of their agreement to work together with the Exco.
The suspended lawmakers who are also piqued at Ihim’s attitude will use the opportunity to have their pounds of flesh from the Speaker.
According to Trumpeta findings, the impeachment fear stopped the scheduled recovering of the House which adjourned to meet on Tuesday.
It could be recalled that Acho Ihim narrowly escaped impeachment several times, but may not be lucky this time, as the embittered lawmakers would remind him of his many sins.
However, Ihim had been survives bullets from his colleagues due to the perceived protection he enjoys from the Executive arm of government.
Nwosu’s guber position in the outcome of the election, where he lost out to the PDP’s Emeka Ihedioha is lucky going to ignite more fire, as not even the governor’s intervention would save him from the members sledge hammer of failing to deliver him.
Another factor likely going to work against the speaker is non-payment of lawmaker’s salaries and allowances.
This paper authoritatively gathered that Ihim has been the master minder behind Okorocha’s treatment on the Assembly member, which might change with the end of the 2019 polls.
