Leopards not Afraid of Heartland

Heartland’s opponents in the third round fixture of CAF Confederation cup, AC Leopard of Congo – Brazzaville will be arriving to Nigeria today.

‘Imo Trumpeta’ gathered that the 68 man strong deligation will land at the Sam Mbakwe international Cargo Airport, Owerri on a chartered flight.

The encounter takes place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri on Sunday.  The team has an intimidating road trip record.

They edged out the 2007/2008 winner, CS Sfaxien of Tunisia 3 – 2 on aggregate in the second round fixtures.  The first leg in Brazzaville ended 2 – 1 in favour of the North African side but the Central African hit back 2 – 0 in the reverse leg in Tunis.

In the first round fixtures, they eliminated the Central African Republic side, As Tempete Mocef 2 – 2 on aggregate.

AC Leopards won the first leg 2 – 0 in Brazzavillee and held them to a 2 – 2 in the reverse fixtures.

Heartland were drawn bye in the first round but edged Cameroon unisport haunt 2 – 1 on aggregate after score stood goalless in the first leg fixture in Douala,Cameroon.

Heartland are in closed camp at Nnewi plotting on how to unsettle visiting Ac Leopards.

The reverse fixtures come up in the second weekend of May in Brazzaville.

Winners of the third round fixture will face losers from the CAF champions League third round for a place in the group stages of Africa’s second tier club competition.
