The Imo state government on Tuesday began the demolition of Imo International Conference Centre located at the Warehouse junction, Owerri, the State capital.
Newsman who visited the scene saw destruction equipment bringing down the structure.
The structure was built by the administration of a former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, who now represents Imo West in the Senate.
While the equipment bring down the structure, armed security men together with youths were on ground.
This Newspaper had yet to discover what the state government wants to do with the space after it finishes the demolition of the structure.
