Greater Manchester Police, GMP, has dropped all charges against Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.
The 21-year-old forward faced allegations of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. The three charges were all brought by the same woman.
The investigation began over a year ago, in January 2022, with a trial date set for November 27 this year.
However, GMP said in a statement that the “criminal proceedings” had been “discontinued by the Crown Prosecution Service, CPS.
Greenwood was suspended by United on January 30 last year, stating he would not return to training or play any matches until further notice.
According to Sky Sports News, Manchester United has not commented on the development.
