Ahead of today’s inauguration of the 10th National Assembly, Senator Godswill Akpabio has been described as the next Senate President.
This was disclosed by Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State during an interactive session with journalists after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
Following this stand, this means that the Imo State Governor, who was recently elected the APC Governors Forum Chairman, may have dumped his kinsman, Sen Osita Izunaso who is also seeking to become the next Senate President.
According to reports, Uzodinma said the committee set up by Tinubu to resolve the controversy over the forthcoming leadership race has achieved substantial progress in collaboration with the outgoing Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.
The governor assured that Lawan would work for the emergence of the preferred candidates of the party.
Meanwhile, Akpabio had met with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
