In reaffirmation of the victory of the Deputy Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly and member representing Nwangele State Constituency at the State Parliament, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, the Tribunal has dismissed petition brought before it against him.
The Imo State Special Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Nasarawa State, yesterday July 19, 2023 dismissed the Petition filed by the candidate of the PDP against the APC’s Amara Iwuanyanwu for lack of merit.
This was even as the Court frowned at the presentation for lacking in merit to have filed the Petition ab initio.
It would be recalled that weeks after the pronouncement of Iwuanyanwu as the winner of the March 18, 2023 Assembly election in Nwangele, his opponent of the PDP filed a suit challenging the outcome of the exercise.
Iwuanyanwu was declared winner by the electoral umpire after polling a total of fifteen thousand, six hundred and ninety nine (15,699) votes.
Trumpeta Newspaper further learnt that the yesterday’s Tribunal outcome had elicited wide jubilation in the length and breadth of Nwangele State Constituency.
“This was an affirmation that we didn’t waste our votes. Yes, we can out and voted massively for Amarachukwu Nwangele. He represented us beyond expectations in the first tenure an we gave him a fresh mandate to continue,” said a Constituent.
