A Federal Court of Appeal sitting in Port-Harcourt,RiversStatehas finally condemned Chief Vincent Duru (Alias Otokoto) to death.
Chief Vincent Duru who is to die by hanging was first in 1998 condemned to death by an Owerri High Court presided over by Justice Chioma Nwosu – Iheme along with Chief Leonard Unogu (Leonardo now late) and four others.
Justice Chioma Nwosu – Iheme had then condemned the suspects for conspiracy and involvements in the beheading of the twelve year old Ikechukwu Okonkwo in Owerri in 1996 by Innocent Ekeanyanwu.
Not satisfied with the ruling of justice Nwosu – Iheme’s Court, Chief Vincent Duru who has remained at the Port Harcourt Federal Prisons proceeding to theAppeal Courtwhere he appealed against the judgment.
Although his co – accomplice Chief Leonard Unogu had died at the Port Harcourt prisons few years ago in a mysterious circumstance, the faith of Chief Duru had remained in the balance until last week when it was finally ruled that he will die by hanging.
This judgment and final execution of Chief Duru will bring to rest the controversy over the beheading of Ikechukwu Okonkwo and the mass clamp and riot against men suspected to be men of sudden wealth in Imo state in 1996 by the masses
