AFTERMATH OF ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING: PEACE RETURNING AS MONARCH INTERVENS

The traditional ruler of Umunwaoha Autonomous Community, comprising Orogwe/Ndegwu towns, His Royal Highness, Eze Emmanuel Ejiogu, has sued for peace on account of an accidental discharge at Ndegwu, penultimate Saturday, which led to the death of Mr Israel Ewuzie, during a burial.

In a telephone interview, Eze Ejiogu disclosed that, as part of a peace move after the incident, he had sent a high powered delegation to the bereaved family at Ndegwu.

According to him, the delegation included the Vice-Chairman of his cabinet Sir Chief Jerome Anorue, Pastor Hon John Ejiogu(Eze’s PA) and Chief Engr Uche Ubanwa all from Orogwe while the Ndegwu delegation comprised Chief Adol Unagwu(Cabinet Secretary), Chief CY Ononogbo(Chairman Cabinet Arbitration Committee) and Sir Hon Sampson Ogbos.

The traditional ruler intoned that he was satisfied with the deliberations so far adding that it wouldn’t be a one swoop exercise as more peaceful moves would be made.

He, however, regretted the incident and advised all concerned parties to remain calm.

In another development, as a way of ensuring peace in Umunwoha Autonomous Community, the Executive Chairman of Owerri West, Hon Chief Victor Osigwe has also led a delegation to the bereaved family at Ndegwu.

Condoling the family, Hon Chief Osigwe said he came to commiserate with them assuring that the Council would ensure peace.

It would be recalled that penultimate Saturday during a burial at Ndegwu, an accidental discharge from a Vigilante personnel, Mr Ebere Azu, killed one Mr Israel Ewuzie.

As at the time of filing this report, Police investigation was still on going.
