—— COMMENDS GOVERNOR UZODIMMA FOR SHOWING COMMITMENT TO GOVERNANCE, DEVELOPMENT AND SERVICE

 

 

In a remarkable show of Leadership and Oversight Solidarity, the Imo State House Of Assembly Committee On Digital Economy And E-Government has commended the State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Ministry of Digital Economy And E-Government and the Management And Staff of Imo Digital City limited for showing commitment to governance, development and service to the people of Imo State.

 

The commendation was made when Members of the House Committee On Digital Economy And E-Government, on Thursday, 30th October 2025, paid an Oversight inspection visit to the Imo Digital City, an Imo State Government backed Tech-Ecosystem, established to be a Hub for Digital Transformation and Innovation in Nigeria.

 

Led by the Committee’s Chairman, Hon Chief Sir Clinton Amadi, the visit aimed at evaluating the progress of the well applauded initiative of the State to revolutionize the State Government’s Digital and Economic landscape.

 

Accompanied by other Members of the Committee, including Hon Sam Ikechukwu Osuji (Member Representing Isiala Mbano State Constituency and Deputy Majority Leader), Hon Princewill Ugochukwu Amuchie (Member Representing Aboh-Mbaise State Constituency and Minority Leader), Hon Barrister Emeka Kingsley Ozurumba (Member Representing Isu State Constituency) and the Clerk of the Committee, Mrs Chiemene Ibe, the Committee Chairman’s visit highlights the determination of the State Government in positioning Imo as a big player in the Digital Economy.

 

They were warmly received by the Managing Director, Barrister Mrs Stella Ozo Ezenduka and her team.

 

During the inspection, the Hon Clinton Amadi led House Committee On Digital Economy And E-Government toured and evaluated every section of the sprawling complex, which has many magnificent buildings, as the confidence of investors have been restored in the State by the commitment of Government, thus, Ten (10) Service Production and Skills Training Companies are in one place at the Imo Digital City in the State capital, providing services, skill training and employments for over 5,000 citizens of the State in Owerri Municipal State Constituency :

 

1. Call Center.

 

2. Telephone Hall.

 

3. Robotics.

 

4. Digital Printing Press.

 

5. Auto-Repair Shop.

 

6. Auto-Spray Shop.

 

7. BPO — Business Process Outwork.

 

8. Innovation Hub.

 

The Committee evaluated the Digitally Equipped Learning Facilities And Cutting-Edge designed to take care of the Digital Aspirations of Ndimo. These facilities include High-Tech Lecture Rooms, Co-working Spaces and Innovation Hubs, etc, all of them designed and fitted with modern tools. Also, the Imo Digital City boasts Accelerators designed to drive start-up growth and encourage creativity that is similar to a computer village where innovation thrives. These are crucial for developing local and regional Tech ecosystems.

 

The Committee, while expressing satisfaction with what is on ground at the Imo Digital City, commended His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for showing commitment to governance, development and service to the people of Imo State, especially for seeing to the establishment of the Tech Ecosystem aimed at creating the Hub for Digital Transformation and Innovation, which is focused on equipping persons with Digital skills and Attraction of investment, with the overall target to boosting the Imo economy through technology, thus, equipping Imo citizens to meet up with the 4th industrial revolution (ICT) speed currently going on globally.

 

Earlier, the Managing Director of Imo Digital City Ltd, Barrister Mrs Stella Ozo Eze-Nduka, while conducting Members of the IMHA COMMITTEE round the project site, explained that the key purpose of the Digital City is to position the State as a leader in Africa Digital Transformation, that would be collaborating with major Global Tech Companies like HP, Oracle, Microsoft, USMAC, a Silicon Valley based Start-up Accelerator and Sutardja Center For Entrepreneurship & Technology (SCET) at UC Berkeley USA, etc. She also said it will a Centre for Skill Up Imo Programmes that would Provide Hands-on Training in Areas like ICT, Digital Marketing and Software Development for Hundreds of Thousands of Imo Youths (directly and indirectly). Furthermore, Thousands of Imo Civil Servants would benefit from the Digital Up-skilling Programme in the Digital City, as it will provide Digital Skills to enhance Public Service Delivery, just like the Digitalizing of the Ministry of Lands and other Ministries in the State.

 

The Imo State House Of Assembly Committee On Digital Economy And E-Government is therefore expectant that the Digital City will form the standpoint of the socioeconomic growth, prosperity and development of the state. In his words, Hon Clinton Amadi said, *”The Committee views the Digital City as a Transformative Project that aligns with the Global shift towards a knowledge-based Economy, that is crucial for the State’s long-term development”.
