Labour Party Elects New Leadership ,as INEC Officials Monitor Process in Owerri

The independent National Electoral Commission INEC on Saturday 6th December 2025 supervised, monitored and conducted the lmo State Congress of the Labour Party in her office at No 57 Okigwe Road -Owerri .
Speaking to party faithfuls during his remark,the INEC Official Barr Mark Ursulor an Admin Secretary of the Commission ,told them that they have observed that the party has followed all the procedures stipulated in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended for the process of the congress and elections.
He further stated that the process is clean and doesn’t contradict any law, which has given the party the go ahead order to conduct the election.
He used the medium to advise the party members to always be law abiding so as to remain a good party to reckon with in the country.
The election was witnessed by other INEC Officiala who are HOD EPM ,Dr Mrs Nneka Eluogu and two other HODs.all ward leaders,LGA chairmen , and all the party representatives from the 27 LGAs in the state.
During the congress a motion was moved by one Hon ,Chibuzor Richard Anumun from Owerri Municipal Council and the motion was seconded by Pastor Richardson Madukwu from Ezinihitte Mbaise for a Consensus and Affirmation and the whole Congress adopted it and it was unanimously agreed on .
The congress under consensus and Affirmation elected 34 Executives of the Party for the period of 4 years .
Taking the Oath of Office,the newly elected Chairman of the Labour Party in Owerri the capital city,Barr Calistus O.Ihejiagwa JP, thanked his party members,for finding him worthy to pilot the affairs of the party as the state chairman for the next 4 years.
In his remark,he said that he is going to abide by the anthem of the party and also going to help the party in other positions to get victory come 2027.
”Labour Party has come to stay ,with the ideology of the party, and the drive of the National President Julius Abura,we are going to reclaim Aso rock come 2027 as lmo will not be left out in the process.
Speaking earlier in his contribution,the South East Vice President Chief Igala , said that Labour Party is fullly on ground and will do anything within the aimbit of the laws to return back to Aso rock come 2027 ,as he urged all the elected members of the executive in lmo to work hand in gloves with the chairman to make sure that the party, take back it’s rightful position in the state.
Those elected to pilot the affairs of the state chapter in lmo include , State Chairman,Barr Calistus Ihejiagwa, Deputy State Chairman,Dr Queen Osuala,State Secretary,Hon ,Casmir C.Okolorie ,State Legal Adviser ,Barr Evans N.Nwaibari,State Woman Leader, Prince Chinedu Oleka , State Youth Leader,Hon Kingsley Chukwu and State Ex -Officio Comr Mrs , Nkechi Azike among others .
Highpoint of the occasion was taking of oath of office by the chairman of the chapter,Barr Calistus Ihejiagwa .
