CHIKE OKAFOR VISITS JONAS OKEKE,WINNER OF OKIGWE SOUTH FED CONSTITUENCY HOURS AFTER APC PRIMARY

LAUDS UZODIMMA’S STATESMANSHIP

The ranking Member representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives Abuja and Chairman House Committee on Nutrition And Food Security,Rt Hon Dr Chike John Okafor PhD has sent shockwaves down the Imo State political space as he translates the much discussed spirit of sportsmanship approach in politics to concrete reality with his visit to Rt Hon Surveyor Jonas Okeke, winner of Okigwe South Federal Constituency APC primary election held on Saturday 16th May,2026.

In less than 24hours after the exercise, the incumbent Federal House Member who also participated in the election,Rt Hon Dr Chike John Okafor PhD, initiated an unprecedented political move that saw him pay congratulatory visit to the winner of the primary elections with the entire APC structure in Obowo Local Government Area which encompasses the Local Government Party Chairman,Chief Anthony Osuagwu and his LGA party Executives, the entire ward Chairmen, the Obowo LGA Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors Hon Udochuchuku nwagwu with the entire ward Coordinators of Renewed Hope Ambassadors.Also in his entourage were former Okigwe zone APC Chairman and ex Commissioner For Youth,Hon Chief Ifeanyichukwu Onwuenyiagba, Former Okigwe zone APC Chairman and ex Interim Management Committee Chairman of Obowo Local Government Council,Hon Prince Chidi Nwoko,Chief Anthony Nnabugwu the President General of Achara,Obowo Autonomous Community, Former Transition Committee Chairman of Ihitte Uboma LGA,Hon Chief Kodichi Anamekwe,Former Commissioner Imo State Independent Electoral Commission,ISIEC,Prince Okey Ogwuegbu and several others.

Earlier in his remark,the incumbent Federal lawmaker representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency,Rt Hon Dr Chike John Okafor PhD,said that he deemed it necessary as a true son of Etiti clan and loyal party man to pay congratulatory visit to Rt Hon Jonas Okeke on his emergence as APC Candidate after the Saturday party primary for Federal House of Representatives for Okigwe South Federal Constituency .He posited that he pulled the entire APC structure in Obowo Local Government Area which encompasses the LGA Party Chairman,his Executives,Ward Chairmen, Renewed Hope LGA Coordinator and his team alongside the Ward Coordinators and some President Generals of Autonomous Communities in Obowo to the August visit and that coming with the entire political structure is a demonstration of his sincerity and total support for Rt Hon Okeke’s victory in the just concluded primary.

According to the Obowo born ex Bank Executive turned Federal lawmaker, he had as early as 7 am, Saturday morning, the day of the primary put a call across to the former Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly,Rt Hon Jonas to congratulate him when he realized the direction the party was going and immediately swung into action to mobilize his supporters to deliver Rt Hon Okeke across the wards of Obowo Local Government Area and beyond in total obedience to the wishes of the party.

Speaking further,Rt Hon Chike Okafor said that what informed his visit was the call he put across to Rt Hon Okeke on Sunday morning while in the Church in which he told the former Deputy Speaker that he will pay him a congratulatory visit in his house and that the former Deputy Speaker requested that he should rather be the one to visit Rt Hon Chike Okafor as a mark of respect to him as the incumbent Federal lawmaker.Dr Chike said that he insisted that he was the one to carry out the visit considering the fact that Rt Hon Jonas is his elder brother and former Deputy Speaker who deserves to be respected.He said that the victory meritorious and well deserved considering the humility and diligence of Surveyor Jonas Okeke in serving the party despite his initial difficulties to succeed in the lofty aspiration to represent the people of Okigwe South.

Rt Hon Chike Okafor reiterated that he was grateful to the ruling party,APC which provided him the platform through which he got to where he is today firstly as Commissioner for Finance and member of Imo State Executive Council,and now as a three term Federal lawmaker and further expressed appreciation to the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma who has always guided and supported him as a Father.He expressed happiness with the height of the ruling party has attained Imo State since Senator Uzodimma became the Governor and utilized his good office to promote unity and cohesion within the party.He added that the Governor’s massive developmental strides alongside his administrative dexterity have gone a long way to strengthen and bolster the party.Dr Chike Okafor assured that he will deploy everything at his disposal to ensure that he delivers the former Deputy Speaker and all the Candidates of the ruling APC in Obowo.He also promised to host the former Deputy Speaker’s after inauguration party in Abuja where party supporters will be brought to Abuja from home.

In their separate remarks,top leaders in Deacon Chike Okafor’s entourage,Chief Ifeanyichukwu Onwuenyiagba,Chidi Nwoko,Hon Anthony Osuagwu, Renewed Hope Ambassadors Coordinator,Hon Udochuchuku nwagwu, Anthony Nnabugwu congratulated Rt Hon Jonas Okeke on his victory and assured him that they are loyal to Chike Okafor as a leader they trust and that they are fully compliant to the APC and the Governor and that Obowo LGA will deliver massively as already assured by their leader,Rt Hon Deacon Chile Okafor.

Meanwhile,the host and APC Candidate for House of Representatives position and former Deputy Speaker of IMO State House of Assembly, Rt Jonas Okeke who was visibly happy with the solidarity and congratulatory visit by Deacon Chike Okafor expressed gratitude to the federal lawmaker for his magnanimity and deep show of brotherhood and sportsmanship spirit.He pledged to work with Deacon Chike Okafor and will offer the people of Okigwe a good representation.

A cross section of elders and leaders of Ihitte-Ugboma who spoke expressed satisfaction with Deacon Chike Okafor whom they described as a selfless and people oriented leader who has once demonstrated his magnanimity,purposefulness and a peaceful disposition through the historic visit.
