2027: Samankwe pledges transformative representation, development for Mbaitoli
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Labour Party (LP) candidate for Mbaitoli State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Prince Uchechukwu Samuel,(Samankwe) has pledged to provide effective representation and pursue policies capable of accelerating development across the constituency.
Samuel, an international businessman, philanthropist and founder of Samankwe Charity Foundation, made the pledge recently while addressing journalists at his palatial ancestral home in Uru Ogwa, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
The youthful politician said his decision to venture into politics was borne out of his longstanding commitment to philanthropy, patriotism and the desire to improve the living conditions of the people.
He said his vision was to ensure that government policies and programmes were deliberately directed towards addressing the needs of the people, particularly those at the grassroots.
”I have the patriotic desire to serve the good people of Mbaitoli State Constituency and Imo State at large. My mission and vision are to enhance their welfare and ensure accelerated infrastructural development.
”I want to make a difference by ensuring that government policies and programmes are tailored towards improving the lives of the people,” he said.
Samuel identified the poor condition of rural roads, public schools, healthcare facilities, electricity and markets as some of the major challenges confronting the people of Mbaitoli, stressing that they require urgent attention.
”As a man of the people, I am deeply worried about the condition of our rural roads. Many schools in Mbaitoli are in deplorable conditions, while our markets lack the facilities needed to stimulate economic activities.
”It is unfortunate that in the 21st century, many of our people still grapple with poverty, unemployment and inadequate opportunities for skills acquisition,” he lamented.
The LP candidate also expressed concern over insecurity in the area, describing it as a major challenge that must be tackled through decisive and sustained interventions.
He maintained that his experience, exposure and years of philanthropic activities had given him a clear understanding of the challenges facing the people and positioned him to provide effective leadership.
”I am convinced that I have the experience and exposure needed for the job. My passion is to be the voice of my people and pursue policies that will bring sustainable development to Mbaitoli and Imo State at large,” Samuel stated.
He stressed the importance of purposeful governance and quality representation, noting that the welfare of the people should remain the primary responsibility of elected representatives.
”I am an advocate of good governance and effective representation. As a legislator, my focus will always be the betterment of the people and the development of our society,” he said.
Speaking on the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma, the philanthropic ambassador described the governor as one of his political role models, despite belonging to a different political party.
He commended the governor’s efforts in road construction and rehabilitation, youth digital skills empowerment, leadership and primary healthcare delivery in the state.
”I have admired Governor Hope Uzodimma’s political courage and sagacity since my teenage years. Although we are not members of the same political party, I appreciate many of his developmental strides, particularly in road construction and rehabilitation, youth digital skills empowerment, visionary leadership and the revolution in primary healthcare delivery in the state,” he said.
Samuel, however, urged the governor to intensify efforts in rural road rehabilitation and maintenance, agricultural development, rural infrastructure, security and the welfare of the people.
”I sincerely believe Governor Uzodimma means well for Imo State and its people. I commend his infrastructural revolution and compassionate leadership style, but I believe more attention should be given to rural roads, agricultural development, security and improving the welfare of the people,” he added.
Samuel popularly known as Samankwe appealed to the people of Mbaitoli State Constituency to support his aspiration, promising to provide quality, effective and people-oriented representation if elected.
He said he was determined to use his experience and exposure to attract meaningful development to the constituency and ensure that the interests of the people remained at the centre of his legislative agenda.
”Heaven knows I will not disappoint my people. I have my integrity, reputation and future to protect. Mbaitoli and Imo State will certainly be proud of my performance.
”I may not be the loudest person, but I am focused, result-oriented and determined to deliver. Disappointment has never been part of my dictionary, and I am confident that my performance will speak for itself,” he declared.
