It was cries and sorrow for some residents of Owerri, especially those living around Amakohia in Owerri North area as the state government made real its threat to bulldoze illegal structures in the state capital.
A factory located at Amakohia became the first casualty when government bulldozers yesterday morning moved in to crush the building said to be an illegal structure erected on improper layout.
The state government had declared intention to crumble all buildings built on unauthorized in its plan to sanitize Owerri, the state capital. The Commissioner for lands and Housing, Uche Nwosu and Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA officials moved round to point out the areas mapped out for demolition.
