Oboabona Agrees 4-year Deal with Caykur Rizespor
The Super Eagles defender Godfreg Oboabona has finally agreed terms with the Turkish top division side and is set to be presented officially this week to his team mates and the fans of the modest Turkish side.
Super Eagles defender will be unveiled as a player for Turkish side Caykur Rizespor after he agreed terms with the club and passed his medical on Wednesday.
The Sunshine Stars captain has been a mainstay of the national team playing all the matches and every minute for the Super Eagles as the team won the Nations Cup.
Caykur Rizespor released a statement on their official site that: “Premier League team of Nigeria and the Nigerian National Team player Godfrey Oboabona Itama, Sunshine Stars stopper born on August 16, 1990 in all matters of principle, an agreement was made with the club.”
He is reported to have cost Rizespor 650, 000 Euros and is expected to start off his career abroad in Turkey as soon as his paper work is completed.
Earlier on, the ever present Central Defender who can also operate on either side of the defense had been a subject of Arsenal Trial controversy which has attracted lots of comments from the likes of Victor Ikpeba who said he should have accepted the Arsenal trial.
But Sushine Stars General Manager later refuted the claim and stated that the Eagles revelation was at the verge of signing a deal in Turkey.
Oboabona was very instrumental in ensuring Nigeria’s 3rd AFCON victory in South Africa last January.
