A call has gone to politicians inNigeriato separate politics from leadership as there is a wider difference between an ordinary politician and a leader with vision.
Imo state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha made the call at the Government House Owerri, while addressing Imolites on his one year in office, pointing out that since independence Nigeria had only produced politicians without visionary leadership.
Okorocha noted with dismay, the unconstructive criticism some disgruntled people have been making about his government stressing that it was just in a bid to attack his government. He also alleged that his remarkable achievements in Imo state have not been recorded for the past 30 years.
The governor however, decried a situation whereby Imo state spend not less than N100b Naira to buy food items from the North stressing that one of the highlights of his agenda is to ensure that Imo state returns to agriculture in order to produce food for the masses and escape hunger.
On kidnapping, Okorocha maintained that his government is ever ready to fight kidnapping and other criminal tendencies to a standstill adding that he had demolished all uncompleted buildings which according to him have become hideouts for criminals after operations while charging parents to warn their children against kidnapping and other criminal tendencies because anyone caught in the act will be punished. He further revealed that his government has arrested some kidnappers soon to be sentenced to death.
Meanwhile, Okorocha reiterated that education in Imo state is free from Primary to secondary school noting that parents whose children are schooling at Imo State University (IMSU), and Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo (ISPU) respectively will not pay any fees.
On the issue of Community Government Council (CGC) which according to him was set up with the objective of bringing development to the grassroots. He recalled that he had dissolved Town Union President General while the Eze, Youth Leader who is the Community Speaker and the woman leader will work together and come up with common goal geared towards the development of the community.
Okorocha also called on all primary school teachers in the state especially those teaching within Owerri metropolis to be ready to accept postings as there will be massive re – deployment of teachers to the communities, stating that anyone who faults the order will loose his or her job.
