The out-of-favour Interim chairman of All Progress Congress APC in Imo state, Prince Marshall Okaforanyanwu is threatening fire and brimstone over the reported plan by the party to probe his reign as the man in charge since the formation last year.
Following verbal altercations between Okaforanyanwu and Imo governor, Owerri Rochas Okorocha necessitated by the zoning of APC state chairmanship to Owerri zone against the interim chairman’s Orlu, same with Okorocha, hell has been let loose in APC camp in the state.
Against the backdrop of Okaranyanwu’s salvo at Okorocha on the issue, reports emerged from APC hierarchy that the embattled outgoing chairman will face a probe panel to account for monies he realized from sale of forms from aspirants for the state LGA elections, membership registration and the party’s treasury.
In response, Okaforanyanwu said that he is ready by requesting his accusers to come up with the allegations to ascertain who actually spent his money for the party.
A reliable party source told Trumpeta that machinery is in motion to probe Okaforanyanwu over the amount he realized in selling the forms as the manner he hurriedly handled the exercise was suspicious. It was learnt that when Okaforanyanwu learnt that his days as APC chairman were numbered, he allegedly began massive sale of forms and actual amount realized from from intending LGA chairmen and councilors was not declared.
Trumpeta was told that the idea of probe panel is geared towards cowing Okaforanyanwu and force him to retrace his steps his from pouring more invectives on the governor over the loss of the APC chairmanship position.
An undaunted Anyanwu prayed for the probe panel which he opined would expose who spent his money to run the affairs of the party.
Okaforanyanwu who was not in a mood to speak further on the matter said “Let them come up with the said probe panel or allegation, so that we can know who spent his money and shall pay back”
However, Okorocha has said that he has forgiven Okaforanyanwu over his recent media attack and false claims against him adding that he would not regret “picking him up and bringing him to limelight”.
According to a statement made available to Trumpeta, the media aide, to the governor, Sam Onwuemedo said “ Governor Rochas Okorocha has forgiven the former Interim Management Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince Marshal Okafor Anyanwu over his recent media attacks and false claims against him, and that he would not regret picking him up and bringing him to limelight.
“If the situation was such that the Governor could impose a chairman on the APC in Imo, most party members believed that he would have opted for Prince Okafor-Anyanwu, but said the leaders and members of the party had at a crowded meeting zoned the party offices and decided that the state chairman of the party should not be in the same zone with the governor.
“A force beyond the control of Prince Okafor-Anyanwu must have cajoled him into telling lies against the governor on the pages of newspapers, because without this undue external influence, Prince Okafor-Anyanwu would not have on his own, decided to attack a man that had carried him along politically like a baby”, adding that the former Interim Management Committee chairman was forced by certain forces to go and insult the Governor.
“Prince Okafor-Anyanwu is still the governor’s political son in whom he is well pleased” and that sooner than later, the Prince would realize that he was misled into insulting the governor because there was no reason for that.
Politicians of all grades should always shun greed and selfishness if the system must work to achieve the desired results, and the governor would continue to embark on human investments no matter the disappointment he had experienced in the hands of men like Prince Okafor-Anyanwu, the Release maintained.
