A retired police officer (names withheld) is believed to be telling the Imo state police command, Owerri over allegations of possession of fire arms.
The retired cop who hails from Okirika Nweke in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, is alleged to have used his elder brother’s first school learning certificate to enroll into the force.
According to a source, who pleaded anonymity revealed to Imo Trumpeta that the retired policeman served at Ahiazu divisional police where he was said to have perpetrated some nefarious activities which attracted the rage and ire of his kinsmen who may have alerted the police of the activities of the retired policeman.
Before men of the state Police Command whisked him away recently, he was alleged to have engaged in clandestine activities by inciting youths in Okirika Nweke against his perceived enemies.
According to the source “Recently it is suspected that he has played a pivotal role to organize the youths in the area to cause youth unrest. This led to the petitioning to police by certain individuals. A search warrant was issued
When Imo Trumpeta contacted police PPRO, Vitalis Onugu, he was unavailable for comments, but a Police source said the matter is undergoing investigation.
Efforts to reach the accused did not yield any positive result, but those close to him said he is not a bad character as erroneously portrayed.
