More grassroots leaders of the PDP in Imo State have advised Senatorial aspirant for Imo West, Sir Felix Chidi Idiga to monitor happenings in the party to guard that transparency and democratic principles are applied to elect delegates to the party’s primaries.
Leaders of the party in Nwangele and Ideato North Local governments gave the advice in separate consultative meetings with the aspirant during the week, saying that was the only way to ensure that credible candidates like him can emerge or the party might suffer at the 2015 general elections.
In their separate speeches at Amaigbo in Nwangele and Osina in Ideato North, two noteworthy speakers Hon Mike Akwiwu and Prince Umeozor Okoli among others pledged endorsement for the aspirant, saying Sir Idiga has credible credentials in industry, is a responsible man who has shown commitment towards uplifting the people and area of Orlu through attracting federal infrastructure and is also renown for giving sustainable empowerment to women and the youths of the area over the years.
They added that they would trust him, believing he would remember that a covenant with the people is also a pact with God.
Other speakers at the meet-the-grassroots leaders’ consultations called on the national leadership of the party to make a clear statement to douse rumours in the state that the delegates’ list of the party had been written by a few individuals who claim to be close to the presidency.
In his address to the people at the two councils, Sir Felix Idiga maintained commitment to doing more to uplift the zone through establishment of cottage industries as a panacea to youth unemployment and its attendant anti-social vices. The aspirant pledged he would also attract the due share of federal infrastructure and empowerment for the zone including its employment quota in the federal civil service and parastatals.
Sir Felix Idiga who is the CEO of JAFAC Group regretted that Orlu Zone lags behind other zones in the state despite having the majority of twelve local councils out of Imo’s twenty seven councils and has oil deposits in some of its councils.
