A group known as Umuokpo Welfare Association (UWA) yesterday stormed the Okigwe road office of the General Manager of Imo Water Development Agency (IWADA) in a courtesy call to one of their illustrious sons, Amb. Clinton C. Obiyo.
The group led by the delegation of Mr. Anthony Anukam showered encomium on the GM whom he said has been an illustrious son worthy of emulation in the entire Owerri West LGA and beyond. He stressed that the appointment given to Amb. Obiyo was a welcomed development and a pragmatic step of His Excellency, Governor Rochas Okorocha for giving such a man with bundle of transparent records with the prestigious position in the state. As the leader of the delegation, Mr. Anukam added that they did not come only to visit their son, but also to thank the Governor as to whom much is given, much is expected. He maintained that the Agency which Amb. Obiyo is spearheading will get more recognition and will yield fruits more than before, adding that he has never failed before in such positions and will never cease from doing his best which he is known with.
However, he solicited to the state government to come to their aid in rehabilitating some of their major roads, especially the road to Rubber Estate which he said has been a huge source of funding for the state.
Responding, the General Manager of IWADA, Amb. Clinton Obiyo extolled their high level of understanding and love showered on him which roused the visit, saying that their visit to the office will not bridge him from being transparent, but would spur him to extend more positive dividends of democracy to Umuokpo community, with fairness to the same way he might treat his immediate place, Umuguma.
He further stated that the appointment Okorocha gave him was an avenue to bring the government down to the four walls of Owerri West in general, devoid of sentiments, hence enjoined them to keep on supporting him and Governor Okorocha for the real Rescue Mission which is on process.
In their separate speeches, Prince Teddy Ndubueze, Mrs. Sophia Okparanozie, Chief Sir Emma Amuzie, Engr. CY Ogwuike, Mr. Onwuka Frankline gave accolades to the GM whom they said have come to transform the Agency to the envy of other Agencies and parastatles. They further assured him of their unflinching supports whenever the need arises, and urged him not to deviate from the moral etiquettes he is known with.
