Federal project: Senator Anyanwu decries neglect of Imo

The member representing Imo East Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Senator Chris Anyanwu says one of the motivating factors that led her to join politics is the neglect and marginalization of Imo state in citing national projects.

Senator Anyanwu made the remark at the palace of the traditional ruler of Owerri, Eze Emmanuel Njemanze during her thank you tour to Local Governments in her constituency led by Dr Shah Okorie.

She revealed that the neglect has gingered her frantic efforts to re – direct Federal government to invest fuel subsidy money in Imo state.

The Senator expressed her resolve to ensure that qualified Imo citizens get employment lamenting that Imo state has the highest rate of unemployment in the country.

She revealed that her office has given about 36 persons jobs and enjoined jobless youths in her constituency to look out for vacancies and inform her office for necessary actions.

Senator Anyanwu charged traditional Rulers to use their office to invest in securing tracking machine to fight kidnapping, pointing out that Imo state always borrow from the neighbouring states.

She noted that Owerri is an oil producing zone, remarking that Ohaji/Egbema is an integral part of Owerri West.

Senator Anyanwu noted her decision to set up a civic centre of a 500 sitting capacity in each of the Local Government councils in her constituency with skills acquisition centre beside it, maintaining that the building would be up to international standard.

Addressing the people of Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, Senator Anyanwu pledged to build 6th federal highway from Ogbe, crossing Imo River through Ezinihitte to Port Harcourt – Enugu express way of by next year.
