Strong indications that the coast is getting clearer for the Chief of Staff to the Imo State Governor, Chief Uche Nwosu, to run for the office of the governor come 2019 have emerged.

Last weekend, Nwosu was the toast of Umuoyima community in Owerri Muncipal Council when he was formally welcomed in their midst as a son of the soil and also presented him with a certificate of indigeneship to that effect.

The event was handled by the traditional ruler of the community who alongside other members performed the exercise that hitherto gave the Chief of Staff ,Owerri Nchi Ise indigene status.

Trumpeta learnt that the decision to obtain Owerri indigeneship was a strategic plot by the governor’s in-law to win the sympathy of Owerri zone people who are clamouring to be allowed to produce 2019 governor of Imo State.

There has been enormous outcry from other zones in the State, especially Owerri zone concerning the speculated interest of Nwosu who is said to be the anointed successor of governor Okorocha.

Proponents of the Owerri zone for governor argue that after Achike Udenwa had eight uninterrupted years, followed with that of Okorocha, it will be unfair for an Orlu zone in person of Nwosu having another shot while Owerri zone is denied.

But the political masterstroke by Nwosu is seen in political circle as a grand design to warm into the heart of the people of Owerri zone and be accepted as one.
