Nigerian Army Storms Imo Oil Regions For Inspection •To Boost Agric, Energy Potentials

People of the oil producing areas of Imo State, comprising Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta can now have a cause to heave a sigh of relief.

The reason is not farfetched as efforts geared towards giving them the rightful positions in Imo State seems to be underway as the wealth creating LGAs of the State.

Sequel to this, the State Deputy Chief Of Staff Operations and an illustrious son of Ohaji/Egbema, Engr Uju Kingsley Chima yesterday led a delegation of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics, Lagos State, round the areas on an inspection tour.

According to the information made available to Trumpeta Newspaper, the said inspection was headed by Major General R. C Duru, Commandant, Nigerian Army College of Logistics, with Uju Kingsley Chima as the tour guide.

The visit to Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta was to ascertain the agricultural and energy potentials of Imo State in support of the military, as well as proffering lasting solutions to challenges noticed within the targeted areas.

General Duru acknowledged the State Government’s role to the improved agriculture facilities in the regions which were on ground, assuring that they will put to work with what they have observed so far.

It was added that the improvement and use of energy should not be relegated, which is the more reason behind their inspections.

The Army General however confirmed that Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta council areas have all it takes to serve the Imo and neighboring States with food, cash crops and other natural resources, the Army promised to partner effectively with the Government.

Some of the visited areas were; the Oguta Lake, Adapalm, Oguta Motel, National Integrated Power Project, Imo College of Education Ohaji/Egbema, Egbema Flow Station among others.

Reacting, Engr Uju Kingsley thanked them for coming, saying that their visit came at the right time when the State government led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha has intervened in the affairs of the oil producing areas for sustainability of the economic base of the State, productivity and peace.

He informed them that the present administration is doing everything possible to ensure that no resources, skills and manpower are not wasted to ensure effective utilization.

Engr Uju also briefed them on the reason for citing the College of Education at Egbema which is to curb youth unrest and the eradication of illiteracy among the young ones.
