Amaifeke in Orlu born Billionaire politician/philanthropist, Chief Felix Chidi Idiga is currently under pressure to run for the office of the Executive Governor of Imo state come 2019 general elections in the country.

Idiga, who until yesterday, Sunday 13th of May 2019 was gradually cruising to picking the ticket of the APC House of Representatives for his Orlu/Orsu/Oru-East Federal Constituency got the order from a group of his business associates to drop the ambition and run for the office of the governor of Imo State.

Speaking to gregnwadikeblog.com in Abuja yesterday, spokesman of the group who simply introduced self as Dr. Okeke who is also the Managing Director of Sarin-Maritime Group said they summoned Chief Idiga to discourage him from seeking to go to the House of Reps as the position “belittles his status”.

“We are his business associates and friends. The over thirty of us you see here, including these two governors and that ex-governor here are from different parts of this country, and we have gathered here today and invited Felix on just one purpose, and that is that he should immediately drop this ambition of going to the House of Representatives and quickly commence efforts towards running for the office of the Executive Governor of Imo State”

Okeke said that though Idiga’s ambition to go for House of Reps shows the humility they all knew him for, but as his friends and business allies who know him better, they have resolved that he be honoured for truly what he is and be supported to go for governor.

“Felix whom you all know as JAFAC has made money and fame. He has acquired all he needed in life and needs nothing more, except to empower others.

“His interest now is how to save his people and help bring out the state from the mess your past leaders have pushed it into. And Felix is a good man. He is better than all these people you see currently angling to be Imo governor.

“He has also empowered many youths and indigent populace of his area and the country. He is a youth and youth friendly as well who has the interest of others at heart.

” Since Ndimo do not know what they have, we as your brothers and sisters from Anambra, Abia, Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Katsina, Kaduna, Kano and many other parts of this country will want to help you. Felix must drop his House of Reps aspiration and go for a higher office as the Executive Governor of IMO”, he said.

He hinted that his group is coming up with whatever resources that would be needed to prosecute the project as soon as Chief Idiga agrees with their demand and declares his interest.

According to him, Sir Felix is the only one among all the political bigwigs in Imo APC that does not have any political baggage or has issue with any individual or authority.

“He is clean, and at peace with all, therefore will be used to settle all this problems in the state’s APC. He has run his businesses for more than twenty years and has a peaceful family, thus better than all these people struggling for the position.  We must encourage him”, he added.

Efforts to get the miffed Idiga to immediately accept their demands at the meeting proved abortive as he thanked them for their concern and assured to get back to them.

“I am very surprised at this meeting. You didn’t tell me this was the agendum. However, I have heard you and your presentations. It will be difficult for me to give you an immediate answer at this place. However, I will think over your request and consult with my campaign team and then get back to you all”, Idiga told them.

It would be recalled that Chief Felix Idiga was the senatorial candidate of the Accord Party in the 2015 senatorial election for IMO West senatorial district.

He later left the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC) where he has remained a leader and major financiers of the party in IMO state.

He is currently a front-line contender for the Representative of his constituency; a position he is currently being pressured to drop for the office of the governor of the State.

It is feared that Jafac’s eventual acceptance of this request may be the game changer that could scatter some earlier calculations in the camps of all major contenders of the office in Imo State.

Only time will tell.
