Ahiazu Mbaise women have received kudos for their wonderful performance in the just concluded Owerri Zonal grand finale of the 2012 August Women Meeting.
The wife of Imo State Governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha gave the kudos during the reception organized for the women by the Senior Technical Assistant (STA) to the Governor, Dr. Kachi Nwoga and wife Engr. Mrs. Xaviera Nwoga at their home town Umunnanwiri Umuezuo Umuokrika.
She stated that this year theme “Women as Vessel of Transformation” was apt and has given the women greater opportunity to rediscover their God given potentials.
Nneoma Okorocha, represented by the Director-General Imo Foundation, Bar. Mrs. Ngozi Njoku remarked that the LGA was the first to honour their women and congratulated them for coming 2nd in the overall event which featured march past, cultural dance and exhibition.
To the 50 indigent widows (special citizens) she showered with gifts of a piece of wrapper and one bag of rice each, she enjoined to shun despondence, work hard and trust in God for the better.
She encouraged the wealthy to donate generously to the poor and needy, assuring that God would replenish abundantly.
The governor’s wife commended the people of the area for their wise choice of the Majority Leader and Member for the state constituency in the House of Assembly, Hon. Mrs. Adaku Ihuoma, emphasizing the need to differentiate between leadership and politics and prayed the men to assist the women build up on what they have started.
Speaking, the state Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Prince Charles Onuoha appreciated the governor’s wife for redefining and making August Women Meeting interesting.
He underscored that the annual gathering has blossomed into a transformation agenda and exulted the ingenuity of the governor’s wife and her complementary role in the advancement of the state.
Commenting, the Political Adviser to the Governor, Chief Patrick Onuoha patted Ahiazu women on the back for making the people of the area proud and urged them not to relent for the 1st position next year.
Earlier, the STA to the governor, Dr. Kachi Nwoga expressed gratitude to the governor’s wife for the honour done to the women and more so her care and passion for the less privileged and assured to continuing supporting her laudable vision.
He posited that apart from being agent of positive change, peace and development, Ahiazu women have proved to be dexterous, industrious and resilient.
On her part, Engr. Mrs. Nwoga commended the women for conducting themselves decorously and called on all to lend weight to the state goverment policies and programmes.
The indigent women beneficiaries among whom, Mrs. Christian Osuigwe from Eziama, Adanta Iwu (Okpunkwe) and Charity Anyanwu (Umumbiri) thanked the governor’s wife for the largesse and applauded Dr. and Engr. Mrs. Nwoga for hosting them.
