Izunaso

The camp of the Imo Sate chapter of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, is about to swell with another key political figure in Imo State and former National Organizing Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso joining the party.

Trumpeta had last week exclusively reported of the move of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, a strong member of the APC said to be warming up for the party’s governorship ticket who until the story was also a strong member of the Coalition, otherwise known as the Allied Forces faction of the party.

Days after the purported Araraume move to APGA, that of Izunaso is coming up as Trumpeta has exclusively learnt that the ill treatment meted to the Senator who represented Orlu zone 2007-2011 after the national convention and the inability of the APC leadership led by Adams Oshiomole to look at his side and complaints arising from the manner he lost prompted the planned defection.

Trumpeta gathered that discussions are ongoing for Izunaso to cross carpet to APGA. The discussion which is going to be concluded today in Abuja between APGA leadership and the new defectors will see the former National Organizing Secretary of APC coming into the party to strengthen the wings of Orlu zone arm with his formidable Kpankpando political organization structure.

Details of the terms of the agreement for Izunaso’s defection has not been finalized but this newspaper was reliably informed that he will be handled the senate ticket to run for 2019 election. Efforts to reach Izunaso for confirmation proved abortive as his number rang repeatedly but was not picked.

APGA has been attracting who-is-who in Imo politics with Araraume and Izunaso as the latest.

It would be recalled that the likes of former governor Ikedi Ohakim and a good number of governorship hopefuls have identified with the party before now.
