Cyber Crime: How Man Faked His Kidnap, To Defraud Victim

The Imo state Police command has exposed a group that engages in Obtaining by Tricks using the internet to defraud unsuspecting citizen.
The suspect one Emmanuel Obioma, “M” a 43yrs old from Awomamma in Oru West LGA was said to have initiated a relationship with one Ugo Emake “f” who resides in the USA, claiming he too resides there.
Unknown to the unsuspecting lady, he had installed a software in his phone, that shows a foreign number whenever he called the lady, and she fell for it.
According to the release by the PPRO, SP Orlando Ikeokwu, the suspect started making demands on his victim claiming he had an accident on his return to Nigeria and was given the sum of  #821,000 Naira in two installments.
“Having succeeded in making her believe he lives in the US, he then informed her that he was traveling to Nigeria, upon his fake arrival to Nigeria, he claimed he had an accident of which two people lost their lives in the process, as such he demanded financial assistance, for his treatment as a result of which she sent him the sum of eight hundred and twenty one thousand Naira (N821,000),on two installments.”
The suspect did not stop at that, he raised another false alarm in October of being kidnapped on his way to Owerri from Kogi state and demanded for the sum of One Million Naira (1,000,000) for ransom.
Following credible intelligence, according to the release, operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS, swung into action and arrested the above mentioned suspects in connection to the crime.
One Agbo Samuel “M” 42yrs from Mgba Ohahukwu LGA in Ebonyi state supplies registered sim cards for the main suspect, while, one Iheanacho Amanda Ugochi Francisca Ugochi  22yrs “F” from  Ezi Igbaku, Mbaitoli LGA,  acted as the mother of the said Emmanuel Obioma.
She also roped her sister  Rosemary Chiamaka Ugorji who sells sachet water, to open an account and hand over same to the said Emmanuel Obioma, they were paid One Hundred Thousand each.
Exhibits found on them were, one Laptop, eight sim cards, black Lexus 330, and mobile phone.
