Christians in Nigeria have for some time been living in perpetual fear as a result of killings, raping and abduction of worshippers by Islamic sect, ordinarily known as Boko harm.
Reports gathered on the  Ash Wednesday mass indicates  that all the worshippers appeared in all  black uniform to show their grievance and protest against various attack against children of God.
At Annunciation Catholic Church road one, Imo Housing Umuguma, New Owerri, Wednesday, the auxiliary Bishop of Owerri Arch Diocese, Most Rev Moses Chikwe during his homily at the Ash Wednesday mass lamented burning of churches and the killings of Christians in the north. According to him, Christians have become endangered species as they are being slaughtered like fouls on daily bases without being protected by the government. He lamented that insecurity in the country has come to an alarming rate, adding that we have to cry out to the international community to come to our rescue. Bishop Chikwe submitted.
Speaking further, he called on Christians to use this period of lent that started with Ash Wednesday to fast, pray and stay away from committing sin in order to seek the face of God adding that God must surely save his people from the hand of the wicked ones.
It could be recalled that the Bishop conference of Nigeria gave directives to all the Christian Churches to attend Ash Wednesday mass in black uniform as a sign of mourning and protest against the injustice melted on them.
The churches are also planning to hold procession in black uniform in Abuja soonest.
Reports showed that many Christians have been sacked from their communities by bokoharm agents.
In the north people are said to be afraid of going to church especially on Sundays. Many Christians from the south east have began to call for regional police as a proactive measure to should be taken to avert the danger coming ahead.
Many Igbos as we gathered have started coming back home.
