One of the Local Government Areas where an uneasy calm has eluded is Ideato South where the Honourable Member Representing the area, Hon Kevin Amuka and the former Transition Chairman Mr Maxwel Nwokeji are at each others neck over the use of the N200 million project fund released to the Local Government.
Impeccable sources revealed to Imo Trumpeta how the two government functionaries had traded words and threw accusing fingers at each other over the mismanagement of the whooping N200 million. The source in Imo State House of Assembly who confided in our reporter disclosed that Amuka denied knowledge of how the former TC Chairman, Mr Nwokeji allegedly mismanaged the funds. A relation and close confidant of the former TC chairman accused Amuka of allegedly getting N7 million out of the total sum released for projects.
Inside sources revealed that the altercation between the duo said to be loyalists of the state Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha got to its climax when nwokeji’s confidant said to be a woman on coming out from the house of the principal Secretary to the Governor met with Amuka where they had verbal exchanges on the matter.
It was further alleged that Amuka within a year of his membership of the Imo House have amassed stupendous wealth to the surprise of even his constituents. The lawmaker turned nouveau riche is said to be raising several hospitality structures across the country with an upcoming 3-star hotel in Owerri onYar Adua Drive byControl Post/World Bank Road
Meanwhile all efforts to get the views of both Honourable Amuka and Mr Nwokeji on the lingering crisis failed as both rebuffed several phone calls by our reporter.
