Armed Robbers in Owerri meet Waterloo

A suspected armed robber, Chibuzor Oguzie who specializes in robbing bank customers in Owerri is now in the police net.

The suspect, who denies being an armed robber, confessed that his modus operandi is to move around with master keys looking for anybody who cashed money from a bank and left it in the car.

According to him as soon as he or any member of his gang comes across any such car, they open it with the master key and steal the money. If the person drove out from the bank premises, they would trail him or her to any place such car is parked.

He named one Chidi (surname unknown) from Amurie Omanze, and Nwa-Aba surname also unknown from Orodo in Mbaitoli LGA as member of the gang.

The suspect who was also paraded alongside others said that the master key they came with on the day he was arrested was with Nwa-Aba in his Toyota Sienna car while the motorcycle with which he was hovering around UBA Mbari Street Branch belonged to Chidi who was with Nwa-Aba in his car.

He also claimed that as soon as he was arrested, Nwa-Aba and Chidi drove off with the Sienna car and the master key.

The commissioner of police also told newsmen that the second suspect, Kingsley Ikechukwu Alamezie was arrested following the confessional statement of Chidi who described him as his confederate in crime and that they operate within and outside Nigeria namely Cameroon, Dubai and other African countries.

When the residence of the first suspect, Chibuzor Oguzie was searched police found Qlink Motorcycle without registration number, Mercedes Benz convertible car model SIK 30 without registration number, Toyota Corolla car without registration number, Toyota Camry: AY 412 WER as well as HI-GI Audio Power Amplifier with speakers and small size LG fridge and small Qlink standing fan.

On the other hand, infinity QX4 Jeep with registration No. BK 810 AKD, L-300 Bus with Reg. No. XB 143 UNC, Q-Link Motorcycle without Reg. No as well as Sinoko Ladies Motorcycle without registration number and Q-Link Ladies Motorcycle without Reg. No were found in Kingsley Ikechukwu Alamezie’s residence. Efforts are on hand to track down the fleeing suspects.

In another development the police anti robbery unit attached to Owerri Area Command while on a surveillance patrol in Owerri Metropolis arrested one Hamza Musa on the 17th of October, 2012.

The anti robbery unit swung into action after being alerted about the presence of some hoodlums who normally rob traders coming from Relief Market near Government Technical College, Owerri.

Items recovered from the suspect were, one locally made double barreled pistol loaded with live cartridge, two wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp and one lighter
