…..Says Event Kicks Off Dece.28.
The President-General  of Mbieri Nwaotuoke Town Union in Mbaitoli Council Area of Imo State, Deacon Chukwuma Okwodu has flayed a media report published on the front page of Horn Newspapers edition of Tuesday 15th Dec. 2020 captioned, “Emume Mbieri cultural festival; Court stops Okwodu-led faction, others. Mandates Mbieri Monarchs to officiate event” describing the publication as the handwork of mischief makers.
According to Deacon Okwodu, Mbieri Nwaotuoke Town Union is a formidable socio-cultural organization and umbrella body abiding the people of the seven autonomous communities in Mbieri clan both in home and abroad which has no control of the traditional rulers of the component communities.
He recalled that Emume Mbieri Cultural Festival was first held in Aba, Abia State by Mbieri sons and thereafter triggered actions of bringing home the festival as a biannual event. “The event was first held in Mbieri in 2017 and was repeated in 2018 because of the need to strengthen the festival. Traditional rulers have no hands in the festival. We only invite them as our guests and possibly help to bless kola-nut. The truth of the matter is that some group of people who have made up their minds to be extorting money from unsuspected individuals have trying to disrupt and destabilize the leadership of Mbieri Nwaotuoke. Court never stopped my executive from organizing Emume Mbieri 2020 cultural festival. However, our cultural festival kicks off at Orie Mbieri on 28th December, 2020 with the executive governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma as the special guest of honour, the Chairman of Waltersmith Petroman, Abdu Rasaq Isa as the Chairman of the occasion, HRM Eze Samuel Agunwa Ohiri, Royal Father of day and Bishop Chukwuma  Opara of Owerri Anglican Diocese as the spiritual father of the day”, the President-General revealed.
Meanwhile, the High Court sitting in Nwaorieubi Mbaitoli on Friday last week adjourned to 12th January,2021 a case with suit No HMI/153/2020 brought to it by the factional leader of Mbieri Nwaotuoke, Engr. Fidelis Akuchie challenging the authenticity of Deacon Chukwuma Okwodu led executive.
According to the Court presided by Hon. Justice V. I. Onyeka, the Defendant in the case is advised to take step and file the appropriate defence paper as the Court is minded to get with the merits of the case.
Earlier, the counsel to Defendant, H.C Onyekpere (ESq) argued that the Defendant just served them with affidavit and asks for time to respond to the same.
While the counsels to the Defendant and Plaintiff diligently agreed that the suit should be adjourned to Tuesday 12th January, 2021 for the motion to be decided.
