Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has announced the appointment of Prof. Peter Achinike Akah, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Owerri.
The appointment was made, following the end of tenure of the former VC, Prof. Mrs. Adaobi Obasi, on the 30th December, 2020.
Prof. Akah hails from Oru East LGA, Imo State, same LGA with the Governor.
Until his appointment, he was a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Nigeria Nsukka.
Information scooped by Trumpeta Newspaper disclosed that the new IMSU boss bagged his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1980, MSc in 1982, and PhD in 1984 in Pharmacology, Ibadan.
Meanwhile, the emergence of Prof Akah in Acting capacity, is said to have doused all tensions around who succeeds Obasi.
The Newspaper further gathered that before now, there have been series of interests by some of the University’s Lecturers, but with the latest development, all the aspirants may now wait for the next tenure.
