Member representing Aboh Mbaise/ Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Bede Uchenna Eke has condemned the gruesome murder of a former Presidential Aide, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak in the soil of his Federal Constituency.
Hon Eke, in a statement personally signed by him and made available to newsmen in Abuja also called for caution on the alleged harassment and intimidation of his innocent constituents by security agents over the unfortunate murder of Alhaji Gulak.
While commiserating with the Gulak family and the good people of Adamawa State, the Honourable member also commiserated with families of his constituents who lost their lives through the bullets of security agents on that faithful day.
He described Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala as a very peaceful place that has not experienced such gruesome murder and believes that “since a lot of fingers are pointing to political assassination as captured by the Imo State Governor in a recent broadcast, the investigation must look beyond them”, he said.
Eke called for a thorough and detailed investigation into the unfortunate incidence, insisting that the perpetrators should be brought to book, while asking that investigation should also be carried into reasons his constituents were gunned down by security agents.
According to him, since the incident, many of his constituents, women, youths, children and the aged have taken refuge outside their homes; some hiding in bushes while others have run to neighbouring local governments to avoid being unjustly arrested by security agencies.
Also, he disclosed that there are video evidences of these scenes and it is not good in anyway.
The Honourable member pointed out that these events make it look as if his people “committed a crime by donating land for the Imo Airport”.
He further called on the Imo State government, the Imo State Police Commissioner and heads of other security units in the State to ensure that caution is the watch-ward as the manhunt for Gulak’s assailants continues.
