Ex Heartland Midfielder, Cooper, Chilekwu Join Enyimba

Enyimba International FC of Aba have completed the signings of midfielder Ikenna Cooper and defender Chigozie Chilekwu.

The duo has arrived from Sunshine having completed their medicals with the People’s Elephant.

Cooper joins on a two-year deal and arrives with valuable top level experience having also previously featured for FC Ifeanyi Uba and Heartland FC.

A commanding player with exquisite box-to-box qualities, Cooper is expected to bring balance and grit to an already competitive midfield setup. 

Chilekwu, meanwhile, arrives to fill in at left back following the departures of Daniel Darkwah and Emmanuel Ampiah and has penned a two-year deal. 

The 26-years-old provides versatility as he can also operate comfortably as a wing forward and in central midfield.

Meanwhile four players of Heartland FC of Owerri have moved to their oriental neighbors, Enyimba FC after the team’s relegation.

Trumpeta sports desk gathered that the quartet of Nonso Nzediegwu, Victor Mbaoma, Murphy Ndukwu and Chuike Onyeukwu have joined Enyimba FC ahead of the 2022/23 NPFL season.

Reports unconfirmed indicates that over 15 key players of the Naze Millionaires including captain Chukwudi Nwordu who is now with Enugu Rangers have departed the Owerri based side with more still itching to go.
