The Spokesperson for the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, and Reps Candidate for Ideato Federal Constituency, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has warned against the continuous detention of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

He rebuffed the Federal Government and the DSS for further holding Kanu under detention after being acquitted by a competent Court.

In a press conference held yesterday at his Umukegwu Akokwa residence, in Ideato North LGA, Imo State, Ikenga disclosed that from his interaction with Kanu’s Lawyer on Tuesday, he revealed that the IPOB Leader has been critically ill.

According to Ikenga, Kanu has no access to any medicare at the DSS cell, nor allowed free movement.

Ikenga opined that as an activist and CUPP spokesman, he call on President Buhari to allow Kanu go and take care of himself before it degenerates to something regrettable.

The Reps Candidate stated that it is long over due, and the continuous detention is an illegality taken too far.

“In view of the information I got on Tuesday from Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer, it will not even be on the interest of peace if he dies there or come out deformed”.

He further added that the six months ultimatum given by the United Nations for the release of Kanu will expire by this month ending.

He made reference to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s promise of being a surety once they are ready to set him free. Also, he recalled that the late Chief  Amaechi Mbazuluike before his death pleaded with Buhari for the release of Kanu which he never did.

Further speaking on the insecurity situation in Imo and Nigeria, Ikenga disclosed it rose as a result of agitation for justice, equity and fairness.

“Unless people are enjoying the endless flow of blood in the land, these injustices have to stop, those behind the mayhem should desist too”.

He tasked on respect to rule of Law.

“We are not attacking the president, as father of the land, he should let the gate open and let Nnamdi Kanu free”.

Ikenga submitted that Buhari may have a peaceful transition and free and fair election, when he also consider a round table towards finding a lasting solution to the lingering agitation.

He cited the marginalisation of Southern Region on the indictment of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Governor, Godwin Emefiele who was accused of terrorism, stressing that if he were from other region, he wouldn’t have faced such antagonism.

Restating his readiness for the polls, Ikenga said, “Here in Ideato, we are confident. If this election holds today, we are going to crack our opponents like crackers biscuits. We will defend our votes with everything within the ambits of the Law. All we ask is for a level fair playing ground. The DSS, the police, and security agencies should dispense their duties effectively devoid of undue interference”.

Meanwhile, he has lampooned the Imo State House of Assembly Members for voting against the financial autonomy of the Legislature, judiciary and the LG.

He described the Lawmakers as “Alleluia boys” who have ridiculed the sanctity of legislature.

Ikenga revealed that the Local government is in ruins and when the State lawmakers had the time, they voted against its reform.

“These set of boys have made the Legislature a joke of the day. They are jokers, Alleluia boys. Those in that house of Assembly who voted against the future of our children and even against themselves should be massively voted out in 2023 election, so it would serve as a deterrent to those coming after them so they would know that the Legislature is not a place for stupidity”, he said.

However, he was hopeful that new set of Leaders with the people’s interest at heart would emerge in Imo State in 2023.
