Months after the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma promised mass promotion to Imo Workers, nothing has happened and there is no sign to show that the workers will truly get their promotion as promised by the number one citizen. Instead of getting promotion, some workers as we observed were allegedly omitted in the paylist and this is vehemently bringing serious confusion in the system as we gathered from a reliable source.

Some of the workers who did not want their names to be mentioned told our reporter at the State Secretariat that they are very much disappointed with the State Governor since he is unable to fulfill his promotion promise.

The workers are surprised that after the Governor came out openly to announce the promotion of Civil Servants, nothing has happened uptil now.

The most painful as we gathered is that many of the workers are going to retire this month without the promotion “it was announced that workers will receive their December salary with the new grade but such did not happen at all” a worker said.

The workers are now very much angry as we gathered, and if care is not taken, the most aggrieved civil servants may go on strike to protest against the injustice meted on them.

Investigation revealed that the promotion of Imo workers will still take place but what is delaying it now is the process of bringing out the right workers that will get the promotion.

The Governor had earlier said that only genuine Imo workers will get the promotion and not everybody.

It had been discovered that some workers came through the back door. Many also are ghost workers.

A source now revealed that after the current screening just very few of Imo workers will finally get the promotion.

Heads of Ministries and Parastatals including Agencies are now working very hard to submit list of those who deserved the promotion after which Government House will look into the list before approval.

Those who absent from work on Mondays may not be promoted as we were told.

Those who are not always on their duty post will not also get promotion.

Those who are yet to resume duty after Christmas and New Year celebration may miss the promotion. Those who received warning and series of queries may be left out.
