Few days to the commencement of the 2023 Aiteo Cup football Competition especially at the state levels, First Mahi FC, Owerri has continued to intensify its preparations for the tournament as well as for these seasons NLO One League.

The team which is still basking in the euphoria of a deserved away  victory against Heartland Comets (0-1) at the Old Township stadium on Tetlwo road, Owerri will today at the Evangel High School Field, Old Umuahia, Abia State engage Supreme Kings FC Academy on a friendly tie.

According to reports emanating from the clubs media, the teams will continue to engage in series of friendlies with the view of improving the players form and sharpness ahead the commencement of the cup competition and the league.

In a similar situation, the clubs women side, First Mahi Babes will in line with the team’s preparations for the seasons games also engage Awka Angels FC in a local friendly derby at the newly constructed Awka City Stadium, Anambra state.

The friendly which will be the female side’s first outing outside the state is part of the clubs preparations ahead of these seasons Women Aiteo Cup and the team’s maiden participation in the league.

Both teams are expected to use the friendly to test their new acquisitions and strategies for the season.

Both women sides will be meeting each other for the first time.

 

 

U-20 AFCON: Top Scouts Storm Egypt For Flying Eagles, Others

Scouts from leading clubs from different parts of the world are reportedly descending to Egypt this weekend for the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

The competition will run from February 19 to March 11.

The Flying Eagles and 11 other countries will lock horns in the biennial competition.

The 2023 U-20 AFCON will also serve as the qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be staged in Indonesia later in the year.

According to CAF, they have been inundated by an unprecedented high number of applications from scouts and clubs who are looking for accreditation to the event.

“The interest from scouts and international audiences is truly amazing,” CAF General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba said.
