Ngor Okpala 2022 By-Election: Gun Victim Sues APC Chieftain Amajirionwu, Harritex, Biaduo, Ebere,  Police,   Demand N1b Compensation

Baring any unforeseen circumstance, an Owerri High Court, will today, Tuesday, March 21, 2023 commence proceedings on the suit filed by two victims of an alleged Imo State Governor’s Aides and police brutality during the February 2022, Ngor Okpala State Constituency seat by-election won by Hon.Blyden Amajirionwu of All Progressive Alliance, APC.

Respondents in the suit HoW/170/2023, filed on behalf of the Applicants, Ifeanyi Daniel Iheanacho and Hon Kizito Onuoha by Barr Raymond Onyeugo and Associates are: The Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner of Police Imo State, Hon Blyden Amajirionwu and Chief Val Okere.

Others are: Oliver Tanana Biaduo, Mrs Chinasa Ogu, APC Imo State chapter, MacDonald Ebere, Henry Njoku (Harritex) Imo State APC Campaign Chairman,  and Matthew Nwaogu , Ngor Okpala Campaign Chairman for the by- election.

In the originating summon and affidavit in support of the matter, they Applicants alleged that on the day of the by-election some police officers attached to some Imo State Governor’s Aides , acting on their instructions allegedly shot one Ifeanyi Daniel Iheanacho on the  ankle and the thigh while Hon Kizito Onuoha had his head broken and bled profusely and were also  arrested and falsely imprisoned.

They are therefore, asking the court for an order restraining, barring and prohibiting the Respondents from infringing on their fundamental human rights, as their actions constitute abuse of office.

They are also asking the court for a compensation of One Billion Naira for the brutalization and injuries sustained during the mayhem visited on them by accused persons.

They further alleged that their Attackers stormed their polling unit at Nnorie, Ngor Okpala LGA on the faithful day  in a convoy of 12 Hilux Vans, 4 Prado jeeps,7 Sienna Buses loaded with over 70 policemen who  were armed to the tooth with  AK-47 riffles, shooting indiscriminately.

One Engr Aham Ugwudi was also allegedly dispossessed of the sum of Five hundred thousand Naira (N500000) by the invading forces.

The said Victim Ifeanyi Daniel Iheanacho is said to have bed ridden since the ugly incident as his legs are shattered by bullet wounds, and have been carried from one Hospital to the other without remedy.
