The cross section of Imo State masses has been commending a great promoter of the Obidient Movement in Imo and a possible governorship hopeful; Ikenga Jonjude Okere, for his forthrightness, vision and courage in condemning the recent anti youth, antimasses activity of the leadership of the party, particularly the outrageous N25M sale of the governorship form which he termed as an activity of self destruct.

In a release made available to journalists in Owerri last week, Ikenga Jonjude said, “I must admit that the Imo State chapter of the Labour Party, LP, is on a journey of self destruct and I refuse be a party to such an insanity made possible purely by wrong evaluation of model political values triggered  by greed; selfishness and hold on the old political order of those behind this roller coaster to modern day Golgotha”.

A human rights activist, Uche Nwaishioma, from Umuowa Orlu, supported Ikenga Jonjude; insisting that the Labour Party might have derailed from its elevated position in the minds of the people as the party that captures the interests of the masses.

Ikenga Jonjude who is a grassroot mobilizer and ardent promoter of the Obidient Movement in Imo added, “I had personally viewed Labour Party from the prism of a platform that regained prominence through the selfless and sincere message by a model leader to rescue the people. LP was nationally built and globally accepted to be a party for the masses, by the masses with the fundamental of prudent management of resources, accommodation of various genre of people as well as being a refuge for even the poorest of the poor or the wealthiest in the society to pursue thier respective political aspirations in service delivery to our people”.

In that regard, Amadiri Chris; a public affairs analyst in Owerri, commended Ikenga Jonjude for his courage and sincerity in condemning the alleged rot going up in the Labour Party, maintaining that N25M was too monstrous for sales of governorship forms for a party that belong to labour and trade unions.

Frankly and frontally attacking what he called “an overkill fees”, Ikenga Jonjude Okere insisted that the N25M tag fees on the governorship form of Labour Party was not only outrageous but it was equally against the tenets, principles and ideology of the party the masses looked up as their last resort of survival.

Also Kelechi Oluchi, a trader at Afor Enyiogugu, Aboh Mbaise, noted that Ikenga Jonjude’s observation and stand were quite commendable as they are in line with the Obidient Movement that actually made Labour Party popular.

Putting the records straight, Ikenga Jonjude enthused,  “Let me be very specific; nothing really dramatizes the strange madness, or indeed, the monetary induced politics playing out in Imo LP than the beautiful sore orchestra in the name of the sales of governorship forms which is being sold at the exorbitant price of N25m”.

The governorship hopeful noted with regrets that the dream, philosophy and standards of His Excellency, Peter Obi, which were hinged on character, competence and capacity had absolutely and completely been eroded at the altar of selfish interests, greed and scandalous inclinations.

He said, “Certainly, I am convinced that this is not the dream and philosophy of our model leader and principal, His Excellency, Peter Gregory Obi, who has been canvassing for moderation in all aspects of human endeavour as a vital key to progress and succeed in all political advancement.

“I was practically at the center of promoting HE Peter Obi’s values in our political space and I worked harmoniously with other progressive minded Imolites from the early days of Peter Obi’s presidential aspiration after he left PDP for LP, on the appeal of the values he represented and the hope he made shine through”.

Ikenga Jonjude therefore in no simple language frowned at the obvious high rate of political mercantilism which he alleged was taking place in Labour Party in the state.
