The loss of accreditation by the faculty of law,ImoStateUniversity, IMSU, Owerri will not affect any student already admitted in the faculty.

A Professor of Law and Dean of the faculty, Professor Uba Nnabue who disclosed this to Imo Trumpeta however explained that the only implication is that the Faculty will not admit fresh students until the accreditation is restored. The Dean attributed the withdrawal of accreditation to lack of maintenance culture. He noted that since 1992 no government in the state had shown reasonable presence in the provision of facilities to the faculty. What is in use, he explained, was inherited from the Federal Government Girls College/FUTO, Owerri.

According to him, accreditation means facilities which comprises human, physical and physical library and like every other thing in life, the facilities could decline with years and play to the fore the inadequacy of.

The Professor pointed out that Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha was just a child of circumstance as the hammer fell during his tenure but as a lover of education, he stood firm with the Faculty and instructed to be furnished with what is needed to scale the hurdle again.

On the current craze to append PhD to one’s designation, the Dean described the indulgence as a sign of underdevelopment insisting that it is wrong for honourary degree holders to be addressed as doctors. Prof Nnabue further disclosed that as at now, His Royal Highness, HRH and not His Royal Majesty, HRM is covered by the laws establishing the autonomous communities ofImoStatemeaning that His Royal Majesty has no legal backing.
