The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the November 11, 2023 Imo Governorship election, Senator Samuel Anyanwu has told his followers that he will pursue to a conclusive end, the matter regarding the election, which  INEC  declared the sitting Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma of APC as the winner.

Anyanwu  also said that it was by the mercy of God that he and his Deputy, Hon Jones Onyeriri are living today as he claimed they escaped death by the whiskers on the election day.

Anyanwu spoke in Owerri, Imo State yesterday will addressing the Press and his followers.

Anyanwu who described the election as marred by ballot snatching, rigging, and open violence against his supporters, said that what happened on that day cannot be described as an election.

“What happened on Nov 11, 2023 was open rape of democracy, a broad day robbery of Imo peoples mandate, a coordinated plot to destablize, dislocate and disfigure a people already injured by same cartel who has vowed not to give peace chance in Imo State” Anyanwu said.

He stressed that he traversed the 27 Local Government Areas in Imo State to convass for votes only for Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC “to shamefully renege on their promise to deploy the proper implementation of the guiding principles of a free, fair and credible election process”.

He maintained that moving forward, he must retrieve his mandate, and asked his followers to remain calm, stating that “PDP as a peace loving party, cannot be involved in any form of violence” adding that injury to one is injury to all.

“We shall deploy all acceptable and known Legal machinaries in motion to recover our stolen mandate” he assured his supporters.
