Police Unmask Keke (Tricycle) Thieves in Imo

The men of the Nigerian Police Force Imo State Command have reiterated their resolve effort to make Imo a crime free state in less than no time.

In a media briefing at the Police headquarters Owerri, the Command highlighted their achievement for the month of February and March which includes the arrest of 2-man gang specialized in stealing of tricycle (keke).

According to the Police spokes person DSP Joy Elemoko U, on 20th of February 2013, Surveillance team attached to Shell Camp Police Division on information, arrested one Iwuchukwu Chidiebere alias But y’ aged 20 years, a native of Iho in Ikeduru LGA, at Umuchima village in Ihiagwa while on 22nd February, 2013, Antony Chibuike Udeh alias Senator” 23 years, a native of Nnemi in Amauji LGA, Enugu State was equally arrested at Bank Road in Owerri.

One yellow Tricycle (keke) with Registration Number QT-303-KGE and well constructed iron in a shape of locally made gun were recovered from them.

In another and related triumph on the 5th of March 2013, combined teams of impact/Surveillance and Operation Rescue on Patrol received information from Imo State University Teaching Hospital students at Orlu Hostel of a robbery incident. The Policemen on getting the information, swung into action and the suspects on sighting the Police took to their heels. A hot chase ensued, and the suspects were arrested.

1 Uchenna Odini of Umuama Mgbidi in Oru West LGA, Ifeanyi  Odini of same address, a 300 level student of Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri. (3) Nwadike Chidiebere of Umusasa Umuna, a 100 level student of Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri.

Items recovered include: One locally made double barrel pistol without cartridge, Two units of DVD sets Five, mobile phones of different make, Three units of finger rings, Two units of necklace, Two units of eye glass, A bottle of perfume, N38, 050 cash, Two units of wallets containing personal effects, One unit of Bangle/wrist watch and two units of Handbag. Items were believed to have been dispossessed from medical students of the institution. All the suspects are in police custody awaiting prosecution.
