IKENNA EMERUEM RESIGNS FROM APGA, SET FOR FORMAL RECEPTION INTO PDP APRIL 24, 2026
By Onyekachi Eze
A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State, Chief Sir Barrister Ikenna Emeruem, has officially resigned his membership of the party.
In resignation letters dated April 8, 2026, and addressed to the APGA Ward Chairman of Nsu A Ikpe, as well as the Local Government Area Chairman, State Chairman, and State Secretary, Emeruem stated that his decision takes immediate effect.
The letters were duly received and acknowledged by the respective party officials.
Part of the letter reads: “This decision has not been made lightly. It comes after careful reflection and due consideration of my personal political aspirations and the direction I believe will best enable me to contribute meaningfully to public service. I hold firmly to the view that my aspirations may be better suited elsewhere at this time.”
He further stated: “I wish to sincerely note that this decision is made without any ill will or malice. I remain grateful for the opportunity to have been part of APGA, and for the relationships and experiences gained during my time with the party.
“It remains my firm belief that, irrespective of political affiliation, our shared commitment must always be towards the growth, unity, and sustainable development of our federal constituency and our nation at large.”
Emeruem also requested that his name be removed from all party membership records and the APGA electronic registry.
Information available to this newspaper indicate that following his resignation, he has aligned with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is expected to be formally received into the party on Friday, April 24, 2026, by national and state party officials.
Emeruem aspires for Okigwe South Federal Constituency in the 2027 election, a vision he believes would turn the fortunes of the Federal constituency around, positively, should they give him the mandate.
He is known for his involvement in youth empowerment initiatives and philanthropic activities within his community and the entire Okigwe South Federal Constituency.
A resilient and purposeful leader, Barr. Emeruem is ennobled as a servant leader with love for God and humanity.
