Mazi Chima Amadi Declares: APP Ready To Take Imo East By Storm
Says, “We Will Defend Every Vote, Resist Intimidation Lawfully”
By Onyekachi Eze
Candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), for Imo East Senatorial contest in the 2027 elections, Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi has declared that his party is fully prepared to take its message of change to every ward and community across Owerri Zone.
Speaking on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at the Ogbaku Women August meeting, held at Ogbaku in Mbaitoli Local Government Area, Imo State, following the commencement of open political campaigning, Amadi declared emphatically that “the APP in Imo East is ready”, challenging his opponents to a contest based on ideas, character and competence rather than intimidation, bitterness or empty political promises.
According to him, the campaign would be driven by the everyday realities of the people, stressing that the concerns of traders, farmers, artisans and unemployed youths encountered during his consultations across the zone have now become the foundation of his political agenda.
“We are ready, not with empty slogans, but with ideas. Not with bags of rice at election time, but with a plan for all time,” Amadi declared.
The APP candidate said his campaign would focus squarely on issues affecting the people, including the deplorable condition of roads, insecurity, youth unemployment, healthcare, education and the need to ensure that the dividends of effective senatorial representation return directly to the people of Imo East.
He insisted that his ambition was not about accessing public office for personal enrichment but about providing purposeful representation capable of translating the enormous potential of Owerri Zone into tangible development.
In one of the strongest portions of his address, Amadi issued a stern warning against any attempt to intimidate APP supporters, harass party agents, disrupt rallies, or prevent citizens from freely making their political choices.
He, however, stressed that the APP would respond through lawful and constitutional means, declaring that civility should not be mistaken for weakness.
“Let no one mistake our civility for weakness,” he warned, adding that the party would resist any attempt to deny its supporters their constitutional right to campaign and participate freely in the electoral process.
Amadi maintained that the APP would deploy every legitimate avenue available to protect its campaign, supporters and electoral interests, including the courts and relevant security and electoral authorities.
More determined, Mazi Chima Amadi also placed the integrity of the ballot at the centre of his campaign, declaring that his organisation would be fully prepared to monitor the electoral process from polling units through collation centres.
He announced plans to train and position party agents to monitor proceedings, record results and follow the votes through every stage of the process.
“Every single ballot cast by the people of Imo East will count: nothing more, nothing less,” he declared.
Amadi said the era of manipulating electoral results must end, insisting that the people, not political machinery or clandestine arrangements must determine who represents them.
He urged APP members and supporters to campaign with dignity, persuade voters with facts and defend one another without descending into violence or personal attacks.
Calling on the electorate to judge him by his ideas, character and record, Amadi challenged the people of Imo East to make their votes the ultimate expression of their political choice.
He declared that the APP campaign would immediately move into every ward and community across Owerri Zone with a message centred on development, accountability, security, economic opportunity and effective representation.
“We did not come this far to be frightened out of history. Imo East has buried too many dreams under bad leadership; we will not bury our courage too,” he said.
“The campaign begins today. Mazi Gburugburu is ready. The APP is ready. Imo East, forward ever, backward never!”, he said.
In her opening address, Lady Margaret Ogbo from Okwu Autonomous Community, commended Mazi Chima Amadi for his genuine dispositions, especially in reaching out to people and his philanthropy.
The Women assured him of their prayers and continued support towards the realization of his political aspirations.
In his usual manner, Amadi doled out millions of naira to the women in support to their respective projects in their communities and women groups. He further promised to sustain the tempo even after winning the senate poll in January 16, 2027.
