Save Us Now, Elekenaowasi tell – Imo Govt.

The people of Elekenaowasi Obohia Autonomous Community in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA of Imo State have appealed to Imo State Government to urgently resolve the Ezeship crisis in the area, before the matter escalates to an unprecedented level.

 

The Eze elect of the community, Prince Chukwuma Anyanwu, stated that that he was elected through a plebiscite conducted by the people of the area in the search of the new traditional ruler, adding that his opponent, one Chief Nicholas Nwaturi challenged the plebiscite in court, in suit no. How 1379105.

 

He further noted that on the 3rd of July 2006, Justice CMI Egeole who presided over the matter ruled that Chief Nwaturi’s suit against his election was incompetent and subsequently struck out, and however devised him to wait for the then governor of Imo State to recognize the winner of the plebiscite before approaching the court.

 

Prince Chukwuma also stated that rather than obey the ruling of the court on the matter, another plebiscite was conducted on the 11th of October 2006 by agents of Chief Nicholas Nwaturi, which made him to proceeded to court to challenge the said plebiscite adding that the court gave an order for the parties involved to be careful as not to jeopardize the fair determination of the case.

 

Prince Anyanwu however appealed to the state government to urgently look into the matter, in order to resolve it, as things might get out of hand if nothing is done.
