The Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has been urged by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to resign from office as the best option to save himself from shame since he has lost direction and ideas on how to pilot the affairs of the state. The party also accused him of crippling the Local Government Areas in the state and squandering N100b that has accrued to the LGAs since June 2011. These were disclosed by the PDP, Imo State Chapter in a release signed by the party State Publicity Secretary, Chief Blyden Amajirionwu. The party said that while the poor suffering people of the state were yet to get a grip of the sorry condition of the state, Governor Okorocha has unleashed another punishment on them in the form of the fight between him and his Deputy, Sir Jude Agbaso, which has exposed the administration’s penchant in throwing Imo people’s money away without due process. “It has been revealed during this period that Governor Okorocha authorized by word of mouth, the payment of 100 percent value of a contract worth N1.35b upfront to a contractor without certificate or advance payment guarantee”. PDP said. The party was worried that within 20months in office, the Okorocha’s administration has frittered away all the successes recorded by the PDP regime in the state, including plunging Imo State back as the dirtiest State in Nigeria, after a few years it recorded the feat as the cleanest State in the entire Nigeria. It said that despite mouthing its achievements in the Education sector, by the Okorocha administration but it was a pity that Imo State University IMSU Law Department has lost its accreditation, even after it squandered N3B SUBEB fund left by PDP government on just one school in Owerri. PDP was pained the more that Okorocha’s government has stripped Imo State of it key assets such as Concorde Hotel, ADAPALM, Imo Transport Corporation ITC, and others. Therefore, the party advised Okorocha to resign for “the good of the state to begin a methodical recovery of their state from depth it has been plunged into” Amajirionwu wrote.
