This week Harvest sets out a converstaion between two concerned Imolites over issues in the State
Ikechukwu: Its now three months we spoke on issues concerning the State. And I can bet you, there has been remarkable improvement in governanace orchestrated by the Rescue Missioner.
Amos: Which Improvement. All about this rescue mission is talk, talk, talk, no action
Ikechukwu: Which one did we talk and we did not do. We kicked against the Abortion law when the House of Assembly smuggled it into law No 12. Has it not been repealed? ISTMA goofed and the rescuer suspended their operations in public. We have appointed three Mayors for the three zones, seasoned and astutue politicians for that matter . I told you that when the time comes, we will show you that we know ……
Amos: Hold it. I am not talking about that. Is cash now flowing in the system. Agu no na obodo a (There is hunger in the land)What is this cashless policy and austerity measures that is ravaging our people. What economics will you call it? Are we in Greece where Goverment’s austere measures has compelled people to beg.
Ikechukwu: What is this noise about cash squezze. Can’t you see where the cash is being channelled to. All these monumental projects ongoing across the State, are we building it with water, does it not cost money?
Amos: But You have money for other friviloities..
Ikechukwu: Which frivolity. I hope you are not refering to the Rescuer’s birthday bash. You call that frivoility. What is wrong with a national figure celebrating his birthday in the six geo political zones of the country?.
Amos: You do not see any wrong in it. Can you not see that it is tax payer’s money that is being frittered away on things that are irrelevant to the people. Civil servants are complainimg that their pay is being deducted and you…
Ikechukwu: Who told you that it is Imo peoples money that was used to host the bash in Ibadan. The Oyo State Government was involved and you know Imo and Oyo are APC controlled States. It was done in the spirit of APC fraternity.
Amos: Spare me that cock and bull story. Spare me that crap. Who has ever celebrated like that. Even Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the father of APC whom the entire South West region respect has not celebrated his birthday beyond the South West where he holds sway.
Ikechukwu: You are just envious of the man. I do not see why the man should be crucified for celebrating his birthday outside the State. We have heard of people who go to United States and United Kingdom for similar purpose, yet the heavens did not fall.
Amos: That is how you will not see any wrong in the seat of government relocating to Anambra for the November 16 governorship election. The rescuer says he will live in Anambra for the election, thus ignoring pressing matters at home.
Ikechukwu: My friend, you are just being petty here. What is wrong if he says he wants to be in Anambra to ensure that his party wins the Anambra governorship election. APC needs to capture Anambra to strengthen its support base in the South East. The missioner has shown so much seriousness to help his party and I think you in the opposition should emulate his style of politicking.
Amos: There is nothing to emulate here. The man style no be am. Where are the Commissioners he promised to appoint. The State has been without Commissioners for two or three months and you tell me,,,
Ikechukwu: The Commmisioner nominees he sent to the House, did they not reject it.
Amos: Which one. You mean the list that contained Hausa Fulani and Hausa banzaas and Yorubas. How can we have these people in Imo State as commissioners when we have Imo graduates, professionals across the nooks and crannies of the State begging for opportunity to serve their State.
Ikechukwu: Dumb head. He is trying to tell you that he is a detrabilized Nigerian. You see others preach unity on the lips, but the rescuer believes in matching talk with action. Besides, the rejection of those nominees by the House removes the impression that Imo Assembly is under his armpit as claimed by Jerry Chukwueke.
Amos: Are they not under his armpit?
Ikechukwu: They are not . We should stop listening to the ranting of the opposition. The opposition sees nothing good in the government of the day. Who is Jerry Chukwueke?
Amos: The House has not woken from its slumber
Ikechukwu: But they have repealed the Abortion law. And we hear they have objected approval to the rescuer’s demand to collect another loan.
Amos: Lets watch and see if they will maintain their stand. They can change at any time. Chameleons?
Ikechukwu; You are an incurable pessimist. I wonder why you never believe anything can be done right. You said the APC in the State was in shambles. You carried runours that there is a crack in the wall between Udenwa and the rescuer. You said that…
Amos: That they reconciled does not mean all is well in the party which has been branded Abortion Peoples Congress
Ikechukwu: Look at kettle calling the pot balck. Are You not Peoples Decieving People that has been struck by the law of karma at the national and state levels. It is endtime for the PDP.
Amos: We will overcome our predicament. No big family is devoid of quarell and disagreement. The beauty of disgareement is to agree.
Ikechukwu: And You believe what has hit your party is mere disagreement. It is armageddon, a war without end. A war that will consume its carcass.
Amos: Not to worry. You will see what will happen in the end we shall overcome and take over the State when the elections come. We are infiltrating the fold of the rescuer, soon we shall be in charge. The peopel are no longer ready to vote on credit in the last elections This time, it is going to be…
Ikechukwu: You think the people will be influenced by the money factor. They will collect your money and vote for us the second time.
Amos: (Loud Laughter) I see you are not listening or assesing public opinion and perception in the land. You think with all these suffer, suffer in the land, the opinion about the Rescue mission will be the same?
Ikechukwu: No Government can satisfy the expectations and needs of the people. It is not possible. Obama of the United States could not fulfill all his campaign promises, yet he was voted into office for a second term. Once a leader is connected to the people, he or she will always remain connected and such connection will give us a second term
Amos: You are living in a fools paradise. This is not the United States. This is Imo State where the people keep quite, watch you and unleash their anger when the opportunity to do so comes.
Ikechukwu: We are not afraid. We are confident. The people know our areas of strength and weakness and I bet you they will prefer the devil they know than the angel they do not know. They appreciate the fact that our style is not to share money, but to ensure that every community in the State benefit from the numerous pacakages of the Rescue misson.
Amos: A hungry and angry populace is unpredictable. And …
Ikechukwu: We know how to handle people. This is peoples oriented adminstration. That is why the Rescuer always echo my people, my people at public function and the people retort, My Governor, My Governor. Such harmony is rare. Did we see such in the past.
