Ssssh! Please, Don’t Let Imo Police Boss Hear This
This is a secret. Please keep it to your self as it is not meant for the ears of the Imo State Police Commissioner, hard working Mohammed Katsina. What is this secret? That check-points have not only returned to Imo roads, but are in legions of about one kilometre apart to each other.
Have you traveled from Owerri to Aba in Abia State lately? If you did, you know the story, but if you have not then read this. Popular Side last week traveled to Aba from Owerri Imo State. From Emmanuel College Junction Owerri, to Imo River, at Owerrinta, the boundary between Imo and Abia, there were about Eight (8) check points. Infact the most embarrassing is that between Agbala and Ulakwo, a space of just one kilometre apart, you find three check points.
However, from Owerrinta to Aba in Abia state, Popular Side could only count the regular soldier and Navy check points, and they demanded no kobo from any Driver or motorist, only the police posts found on the Imo side of the Federal Road did.
Katsina is doing well in curbing crime in Imo state, no doubt. But these numbers of police check points are sore points. Please, don’t let Katsina hear this o!

Imo Government and Sel -indictment On 181 Election Thugs?
A day before the November 16, 2013 Anambra State Governorship election, the police in Imo State led by Mohammed Katsina, raided some Hotels in Owerri, where some youths described as party thugs were apprehended with some incriminating documents, including fake INEC and “Election observer” ID cards.
Hardly had the incident hit the air waves than Imo State Government washed off its hands regarding the hosting of the hoodlums who under interrogation confessed that their hotel bills were paid by Imo State Government.
But it was hard to believe and behold when these thugs appeared in an Owerrri Megistrate Court, and the Lawyers who appeared to negotiate their bail were apparently lawyers under the employ of the same incumbent administration in the state that denied any association with the hoodlums.
So, how do Popular Side place the earlier defence by the Imo Government that it knew nothing about these thugs? And worse, the 181 thugs arrived Owerri from one of the Yoruba states in Western Nigeria.
The question begging for answer now is that since Imo was not having any election and these number of thugs took over the state, what will happen in 2015 when the elections will take place
