
A House of Assembly candidate for the Oguta State Constituency, Chief Walter Uzonwanne is said to have been whisked to Abuja, the Federal Capital territory by security operatives.
Trumpeta learnt that Uzonwanne who is the APGA flag bearer for the yet to be concluded election was reportedly ferried away during the week by policemen from Force Headquarters, Abuja, over a petition raised against him in connection with a murder case that occurred in Oguta.
A counsel, Ihediohamma Akponye, of Akponye & Co (Omimi Chambers) had on behalf of Okoroafor family petitioned the Inspector General of Police that one of their sons, Kelechi Samuel Okoroafor was among those brutally murdered with his tampered and ripped open body left at Urashi River in Oguta, after he was kidnapped by his assailants.
In the petition dated 24th September 2013, wrote on their behalf the Okoroafor family accused Uzonwanne of alleged complicity in several murder cases including that of Okoroafor.
The petition came at the heels of repeated petitions addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Imo State, concerning the brutal murder of Okoroafor by some lawless youths, who when apprehended, allegedly named Uzonwanne as an accomplice in the act.
Based on these numerous petitions to police over his alleged involvement in the murder case, operatives from Abuja stormed Oguta for his arrest Uzonwanne was said to have been apprehended in his house. Efforts to reach the hotelier cum lawmaker proved abortive as his phone was switched off.
